This week the long awaited new Batman film is set to release. It stars Christian Bale and the late Heath Ledger. Although the movie hasn’t yet been released, Ledger is announced to be in the running for an Oscar for his role as Joker.
So here we are, the movies opening July 18th, 2008:

Mamma Mia!
A musical starring Meryl Streep and Pierce Brosnan looks to capitalize on the amount of female movie goers at theaters this weekend. This film is such a chick flick, it has been noted that in 99 out of every 100 trailer showings at least one man has been heard yelling, “GAY!”

Space Chimps
An animation about chimps who are trained to make missions to outer space. This film looks to capitalize on the large amount of success of late by animated movies. Will I see it? Probably not until it’s on DVD.

Wow! He is dead and can win an Oscar for this? Really amazing! I will be happy if he wins then, can you imagine that? His sould would be happy to know if he wins..or at least, even nominations for Oscar is already an honor, right?

Well, the problem is that much of the talk was coming before the movie wasn’t even released yet. It was as if they wanted to give it to him because he is dead, not because of his actual performance. I haven’t yet seen the movie, so I can’t say that it is justified or not… but I guess we shall see.

From what I have seen of his performance, the man deserves the oscar – easy. How tragic that he died after the performance of the life time. I want to see the Dark Knight in an IMAX.
