With the Dark Knight still going strong out of its fourth weekend and Pineapple Express looking to pull in nice returns, three movies are set for wide release and a critically acclaimed fourth movie is ready to take some of their glory.

Mirrors
I didn’t especially like horror films before I met my girlfriend, but now I enjoy a well written horror flick every now and then–Mirrors looks to be just that. Like all horrors and suspense films the trailers don’t say much, but what this one does say is ‘holy crap, I might pooh my pants watching this.’ It is a remake of a Korean film.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars
This edition of Star Wars takes place in between the second and third film. Of course, this film is animated. Crappy animated. Not only that, this film is going to end badly. Why? Because this film is only a lead in to The Clone Wars television series.

Tropic Thunder
This looks to be the funniest movie of the year. Ben Stiller wrote (along with the help of Justin Theroux) and directed Tropic Thunder. If you don’t know what it is about, actors are filming a war movie and are put into a real war. Oh, and Robert Downey Jr. is black. Awesome.

Vicky Cristina Barcelona
This film is said to be Woody Allen’s best in over 20 years. The movie is about two women who go on a summer vacation to Spain and meet a painter who has a tempestuous relationship with his ex-wife.

My guess is Star Wars runs away with it with Tropic Thunder in second. Vicky Cristina Barcelona will do extremely well, but since its release is in just 700 theaters the total cash this weekend won’t be great. Mirrors will also do well for its cost. If it wasn’t for the Star Wars name, I doubt The Clone Wars would do well.
