8/8/08 Weekend Movie Openings
With the Dark Knight still going strong and the Mummy likely to do well again in its second week, two movies are being released to help capture some of the glamor.
Pineapple Express
Dale Denton (Seth Rogen, Knocked Up) is a lazy stoner who wants to purchase a rare new strain of weed called “Pineapple Express” from his friend Saul Silver (James Franco, Spider-man 3). Dale becomes a witness to a murder by a crooked cop and a dangerous drug lord and drops the weed at the crime scene. He later finds out the pot is so rare that it can be traced back to them.

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2
Alexis Bledel, America Ferrera, Blake Lively, and Amber Tamblyn star in a sequel based on Ann Brashares’ best-selling series of novels about four young women’s journey toward adulthood.

Pineapple Express looks like it has potential to be funny. Seth Rogen always does a good job. The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2? Err… I’m not exactly a fan of chick flicks. Oh, and I’m not 14 or female. So that hurts its chances.
A movie about pot and a movie based on girls who… wear pants? Err… what do you guys think?
