Movie Poems: Planet of the Apes

Planet of the Apes is seen as one of the greatest films of all time. The original film stars Charlton Heston, Roddy McDowall, Kim Hunter, and Maurice Evans. The film was ground-breaking for its make-up techniques by artist John Chambers. The film turned into a series, including four sequals and a short lived television show, animated series, comic books, merchandising, and a remake in 2001 directed by Tim Burton and starring Mark Wahlberg, Tim Roth, Helena Bonham Carter, Michael Clarke Duncan, and Paul Giamatti.

But, what all films have in common (at least good films) is there is always a beginning, climax, and ending. With that, they can be loosely described in just three lines.

Planet of the Apes (1968 film)

  1. Three austronauts crash into planet
  2. Humans are slaves to apes
  3. Man sees Statue of Liberty

Planet of the Apes (2001 film)

  1. Man follows chimp to planet
  2. Humans are slaves to apes
  3. Man returns home and sees Ape Lincoln

This really is a short poem of sorts. So now you can proudly say that you have read the very first Planet of the Apes poem.
