The Reddit of Poetry
When I first started /members years ago, I envisioned a place similar to reddit but for poetry.
Poems get voted on, commented on, and the best poems go to the top while the worst poems don’t get seen more than a couple times.
Problem is, that doesn’t always work that well without an extremely large membership community. Now, PoemofQuotes’ has almost 19,000 members. However, the majority of those are not active. Actually, active members have been decreasing steadily over the past year.
So how does PoemofQuotes become the “reddit of poetry”? It needs work, a larger community, and an active community.
We need votes! We need both up and downvotes to get this thing to work.
I know that there is MyCafe, and it needs to be there for the community. However, members also need to vote on the “new” poems section.
Yeah, there is a lot of crap being submitted. But it needs to be read. If you don’t do it, who will?
The community needs to do the work.
Some people seem to want me to handle certain things. I can’t. I can’t read through 100 poems a day and I sure as hell can’t read through all the comments. It is *a lot* of work. Now, maybe if more people became premium members I could. But right now, as I have said a million times, I *do not* make any sort of significant income from the members section. I’m lucky if I can get $10 a month from it.
I can’t spend 8 hours a day reading poems and comments. I just can’t.
